Bob Dylan influenced many different aspects of music that are still prominent to this day. Dylan changed many aspects of pop, punk, folk, and country-rock music that people had previously thought as necessities. He changed the idea that the vocalist needed to have an amazing singing voice, therefore changing the vocalist’s role in popular music. He also changed the messages spread through music as a medium, creating introspective songwriting as well as other types; such as hallucinatory and different streams of consciousness. Dylan himself came from humble beginnings, born in Duluth Minnesota under the name Robert Allen Zimmerman. He then moved to New York City in 1961 and made an immediate impression on the folk music community. By the time he wrote “The Times they are-a changin’”, Dylan’s songwriting abilities were the best in the US; more so than his New York counterparts. Dylan eventually went into seclusion from the public, but his artistic influence still changed the Rock n’ Roll world regardless of his presence. Dylan finally returned to performing in 1984, although he did do other tours in other places and recorded a couple albums. In the end Bob Dylan’s impression on the musical world was large, powerful, and era changing at a very important time in America’s history.

I can't give you credit for this assignment until I know whether or not you've summarized a scholarly journal article ... and I can't tell from this.
ReplyDeleteWhen you summarize an article, you need to begin by identifying it. To do that, provide: 1) the title of the article, 2) the author's name, and 3) the name of the scholarly journal where it was published.
When I googled this, the only "Erlewine, S." I found was some named "Stephen Thomas Erlewine" who writes for The Allmusic Blog, which is not a scholarly journal.
Grade pending revision.
